A removable dental prosthesis is a metal structure with several artificial teeth fixed on its sides. To offer a better fixation, the removable dental prostheses are anchored to the teeth that the patient still conserves in his mouth by means of metallic fastenings. These prosthetic dentistry treatments help replace dental absences and periodontal tissues that the patient (especially older people) has been losing in their mouths.
They can be complete prostheses, partial acrylics (only some teeth are prosthetic) or skeletal. A skeletal is a partial removable prosthesis with the metal base, hence its name. The skeleton contains a part of metal where artificial teeth are fixed and acrylic that mimics the gum.
