Temporomandibular joint

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the most complex and used joint in the body, being the one that allows us to generate the opening and closing movement of the mouth.

Orofacial pain

Through the trigeminal nerve, injuries in the mouth and face cause a painful disorder that we call orofacial pain. This can be of oral-dental, temporo-mandibular, muscular origin or be described as cranial neuralgia.

Once we know the frequency and intensity of pain or other necessary data, we proceed to the diagnosis and treatment of orofacial pain, which will always require collaboration between doctor and patient since pain is a subjective sensation.

Craniomandibular dysfunction

Craniomandibular dysfunction is associated with masticatory muscle disorders. This causes joint noises and has limitations in the movements.

Temporomandibular disorders

Temporomandibular disorders cause pain in the heel of the chewing muscles, and even clicks in the joints of the jaw.

According to each diagnosis, one treatment or another is carried out. It can be the use of a splint with analgesics, physiotherapy or even surgical intervention.
